she found her self in the seventh dimension

Once upon a time there was a beautiful woman by the name of Yemaya, who looked into the waters of the ocean and there she saw her own reflection.
And she said, ‘Who is that beautiful woman!? I thought that I was the prettiest thing that the world had ever seen!’. There came that rumbling in her belly and it grew and it grew…and it grew until it exploded. And before her stood thousands of beautiful women. ‘Who are you beautiful women!? I thought that I was the loveliest thing that the world had ever seen!’
And the women looked
deep into the eyes of Yemaya
and there they saw their own reflections.
And they said to her: ‘You are! We’re just you.’
Self occupation, being full of one’s self. Fully occupying oneself. Perhaps Narcissus baptized himself when he fell in love with what he saw? Mirror mirror on the wall, the vainest hold the most depths of all.
She sees in kaleidoscope, she extends a hand to herself, makes herself more available for conversation.
And her flowers grew.
“A woman consenting to be all of herself brings into the world a quality of consciousness and spirit we all need very much.” — Ann Belford Ulanov
She found herself before the eyes of Lady Sphinx, a mirrored gate. Those who did not think highly of themselves did not pass through.
‘I confronted my true self and now the Empress needs a new name!’
From what she saw, she birthed herself. Upon declaring and loving what she sees in her own reflection, she begins the gestation process of herself. And as she saw, she bore witness to Herself. She saw her own depths and called them beautiful.
And she loved what she saw,
and she began to know the ways.1
- I wrote this piece in the portal of postpartum after discovering the writing style cubism. It felt right to play with writing the same subject from multiple perspectives, as it closely mirrored the psychedelic trip of early motherhood, seeing, sensing, experiencing my self from multiple lenses simultaneously. ↩︎
