(Poem) Laying the Bed by Freeda Cathcart

How hard it was

Where to begin

When to end

How very hard it was

Beneath the surface

The ancient boundaries

Revealed the seeds of Life

Choking among the weeds

The rain loosened the ground

And after much toil

The garden’s form

Began to emerge

Removing the undesirable

Appreciating the surprises

Exploring All the possibilities

Digging down into the Existence of All

Deeper. Deeper, deeper

Peering into each other’s soul

Succumbing to the rhythms

Surrendering to universal time

Solid separateness melts

Into liquid Oneness

The vibrating explosions

Thrusting through to heaven

These are the moments that sustain us

Reaping the harvest of All the effort

We are surrounded by Love

The beds firmly established

The earth easily parts

Setting the impatience into the hole

Piling up the compost

A small investment for prosperity

Gazing into each other’s eyes

The hazel green waves

Flecked with golden grains of sand

Meet the blue sky

Pulsating as One meets the Other

Good morning, my dear…
