Menstruation is a natural process directly tied to creation and birth. Instead of being honored and respected, menstruation is treated with shame, fear, and revulsion under patriarchy. We as women often respond to this by mentally disconnecting any sense of the sacred from this aspect of ourselves. We become detached from our cycles and fail to acknowledge the gravity of what our bodies are capable of, whether we choose to create children or not. Literally and metaphorically, our wombs are catalysts for life.

  1. Beautiful images – I missed the whole menstruation issue because of my age…and am so glad that this does not have to be the case for young women today!
