(Nine Poets Speak) On My Mother’s Lap by Noris Binet

[Editors’ Note: Learn about how the “Nine Poets Speak” series came to be in place here.]

I felt asleep last night
in my mother’s arms
I allowed myself
To melt
Without even knowing
Who she was
But there was a resonance
Between us
I took a chance
And let myself go…
All the way onto her lap
In a deep embrace….
Merging
I woke up to myself!
