The standard epithet, “Mago Halmi,” appears most pervasively in the tales from South Gyeongsang Province. Skirt, skirt wrap, and skirt hem are mentioned in fourteen tales, whereas aprons are mentioned in two tales. | Region/Origin | Geoje Dundeok-myeon Udu-bong (Peak Udu) |
| Toponym/Motif | Mago-deulgorang (Mago Rock Cluster) |
| Divine/Agent | Mago Halmi |
| Lore/Information | …Mago Halmi brought stones in her skirt from the Island of Cats in the Sea of Cats and brought them to Peak Udo. She built the stronghold [Dundeokgi Stronghold] overnight… After completing the stronghold, she decided to dump the left-over stones in the valley of Peak Udu. This refers to a colony of black stones, appearing a ruin of a stronghold, which is called Mago Deulgorang Cairns. It is located on the old road to Dundeokgi Stronghold and above Mui Temple today. From below the cairn the sound of a running stream is heard. Legend has it that the stream was caused by Mago Halmi who, after completing the stronghold, urinated on the spot. Also, by bringing stones from the Sea of Cats, she caused the seawater to spring up inside the stronghold. This is called Lotus Lake. It is said that a skein of silk yarn, put in Lotus Lake as an untangled single thread, comes out from the Sea of Cats. |

| Notes | Continuous creation, Mago Halmi the Magoma Divine |
This tale depicts a continuous creation of the stronghold, cairn, stream, and lake. This tale is rife with the indication of Magoist Cetaceanism. Stones that Mago Halmi placed on Peak Udu came from the Island of Cats and the Sea of Cats, located north of Peak Udu in Geoje Island.
Note that Mago Halmi brings stones from the Island of Cats to build the stronghold, which in turn causes the seawater to spring up inside the stronghold. Resultantly, an underground water channel is created from Lotus Lake in the stronghold (Dundeokgi Stronghold) to the Sea of Cats.[1]

| Region/Origin | Tongyeong |
| Toponym/Motif | Jangjwa (Jangja, Janggae) Island |
| Divine/Agent | Magu Halmae (Mago Halmae) |
| Lore/Information | Long ago, a woman was washing clothes early in the morning in the stream of Tteumbau Valley, Jeongryang-dong. Suddenly it became dark. She, out of a strange feeling, looked up. Magu Halmae (Mago Halmae), looking so tall to reach the sky, was coming in a big stride toward the coast from the southern sea! Out of panic she shouted, “Magu Halmae is coming here across the sea!” pointing to the sky with her laundry bat. Magu Halmae, taken by surprise, threw gold and silver treasure carried in her skirt hem in the sea and jumped and disappeared over Mt. Inner-back in the north. The lump of treasure abandoned by Magu Halmae fell to the sea and became a big island. This island is today’s Jangjwa Island. |

| Notes | Mago Halmi the Cosmogonist |
This tale sets up a scene wherein a village woman who is washing clothes in a river encounters Mago Halmi who is coming from the sea. Both Mago and the woman are mutually startled by each other. Jangjwa or Janggae Island is known for a major mine yielding gold to this day. The tale explains the origin of a goldmine in this island.
[1] The Sea of Cats (Gwaengi Bada) may have gained its name for the meowing sound that it generates. Gwaengi Halmi tales and placenames recur in other parts of South Korea. In South Jeolla Province, Gwaengi Halmi is believed to descend to Earth on the first day of January and return on the first cow day of the year, which falls on around the 15th of January.
