I love bees. I’m fascinated by native bees. My heart rejoices when I hear them buzzing. I love the carpenter bees that bumble around. Did you know that most wild bees are stingless? And that native bees are the best pollinators for native plants? And that very few people are allergic to bee stings? Really. Bees have been wrongly blamed. It’s wasp stings that folks are allergic to. But few take the time to notice the difference between wasp or a bee when just stung. Wasps are carnivorous. So you (being meat) react strongly to their bite. Bees are vegetarians. Their sting hurts, but doesn’t send your immune system into shock. Celebrate bees today.
