(Poem & Art) Wild Soul by Alex Purbrick

Kelpie heart sculpture by Alex Purbrick

Wild Soul where did you go?

Birds sing of your haunted absence

In sterile gardens tamed by man’s fear of your unbounded lust for life.

Wild Soul how did you know?

That they would try to destroy you

In their insatiable desire for power

And dominion of all the love you create

Wild Soul will you come home?

To rest in my heart

Heal from your wounds

Until skylarks at dawn

Beckon us to fly free.
